For one night only, we’re welcoming @daniellemariealvarez into the Ciao Papi kitchen. The Culinary Director of Sydney Opera House Events and celebrated author of ‘Recipes for a Lifetime of Beautiful Cooking’ will join our Executive Chef Dean Anning this Thursday, 20th of November, for an unforgettable ‘Italo Australiano Feast’.
Danielle brings her signature love of seasonal, produce-driven cooking, captured so beautifully in her cookbook, while Dean infuses every plate with true Italian soul. Together, they’ve crafted a menu that heroes Australia’s finest ingredients with Italy’s unmistakable heart, all served on Ciao Papi’s riverside deck.
Old friends from their days together at Fred’s in Paddington, Danielle and Dean reunite for a one-night-only Italo Australiano Feast… A laid back dinner brimming with warmth and flavour.
With a menu curated with Italian flavours, plates are designed to be shared featuring Spring Queensland produce and wine pairings available per course.

Danielle Alvarez is a celebrated chef and cookbook author based in Sydney, renowned for her approach to seasonal cooking and commitment to sustainable practices. Originally from the United States, Alvarez honed her culinary skills at renowned establishments such as Chez Panisse and The French Laundry in California before relocating to Australia in 2014. In 2016 she opened celebrated, 2-hatted Sydney restaurant, Fred’s, where her dishes highlighted the best of locally-sourced ingredients cooked over fire. Alvarez's culinary philosophy revolves around creating dishes that are not only delicious but also celebrate the integrity and freshness of the ingredients she uses.
In 2022 Danielle stepped away from the restaurant and is now the culinary director of events at the Sydney Opera House. Danielle has written two cookbooks and her third will be published in October 2026.
